The Lilly Scholarships in Religion Program gives full-time journalists up to $5,000 to take any college religion courses at any accredited institution at any time. Deadlines to apply are Jan. 1, April 1, July 1 and Oct. 1.
Eight awards come with a total of $33,000 in prize money, courtesy of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and the Gannett Foundation, including two $2,500 awards for innovative investigative work. This year’s awards also feature several changes in categories and metrics for sorting organizations by size.
The medals were created to recognize exemplary reporting on children and families. The deadline for applying is April 20.
